The Elk Hunt

A beautiful fall day in Fish Lake National Forest. Larry took the 5th wheel up elk hunting so I could tag along. Hey, look, there's me!

We took the Rhino out for an afternoon joy ride and snapped a photo of ourselves so you could see how much fun we were having. We happened upon this little lake.
It looks like Skippy needs another beer.A little stream wound its way through our camp. Jayson and Josh, who works at the Richfield Coke Plant, are scoping out elk before opening day. I got a kick out of the t-shirts. Josh was raised on the Street and Jaysons monkey loves chicks.

I won't comment on Shaun's.
The weather turned cold and wet.

There is nothing better than a man in furry blue slippers cooking your dinner.

This is Josh's dad, Fred from Richfield and Fred's best friend who loves to ride.

Male bonding

Whatever you do don't look in the back of the Rhino. Don't look at this either.
Jayson and Josh both bagged an elk.
I think Larry took this self portrait right before the sunset. I love the hunts because all the men have that very sexy scruffy look.

Mmmm. Dead deer.

I could hunt for a month and still not have that scruffy look :( Guess I am truly a city boy. I was deer hunting with my Uncle Jeff once and I had a deer in my scope (is that the right lingo? in my sites? ), but I couldn't pull the trigger...too much of a softy!
Looks like a fun trip though; those are some big elk.

Nice post summer - it's actually an elk, not a deer :)

Are you going to make any elk jerky, stew, etc?

Jason, you are lucky. Shaving is not all it's cracked up to be.

I couldn't shoot an animal either, not even a squirrel. Run over one maybe...

When Jayson gets his processed elk back we'll invite ourselves over for an elk steak.
